![]() But, When this batch of original PU snipers runs dry, I hate to think of what's going to happen to the prices on those, too.Īnother option that nobody has mentioned is that there are repro rifles already built and for sale. Compare that to originals where the scopes alone are $600-$800+ and the mounts can be that much or more, as well (IF you can even find one) and you can see how the PU is the more popular candidate. Expect to pay around $300 for a repro PE scope with mount and base and for a repro PEM, the scope will run around $300 and the mount about $250. If you don't have the tools or experience, I would have a gunsmith do it. The biggest problem comes when you're trying to mount them. They're out there from different sources and all will have some minor differences from one another (and the real things). im sure those ones arent only 150 though. Thats awesome, do you know if they make reproductions of thos scopes or not or where to find one. (not a real write up, but hope it helps somehow) This guy talks about his PU install in the vidĪccu Mounts there is supposed to be instructions here, but the link for instructions didn't work when I clicked it. So far I have only purchased the pillars and allen head action screws from them, which I am very pleased with. ![]() Scope mounts from rock solid can be found here i have just heard the best comments about these, and people seem to be happy with RSI. Its not that expensive, and i don't have to worry about "oops" and wasting a receiver. in the future I will grab a high walled version and go with Rock Solid Industries scope mount, and just pay a local gunsmith to drill and tap it. My low walled 1939 mosin will be getting front and rear mojo peep sights. ![]() But, I never personally liked the looks of the scout style. Use an unlimited eye relief scope (typical scopes people use are handgun type i believe). Scout style is cheaper, uses the rear sight leaf mount with a custom bracket that installs in place of the leaf sight. But i have heard many of these don't hold zero because of the limited contact with the receiver. So PU is not an option as far as im aware, but you could get a rail type mount and drill/tap the top of the receiver, instead of the side where the PU scope mount attaches. Other things to look for is to make sure if you want to add a scope mount to the receiver, that it is a high wall. For all of the trouble you will go though adding a PU scope and a mount to a non PU 91/30, you would be better off waiting to find a deal on a real PU with the scope and things already. ![]()
